Creek After School Activities/Programs

Prairie Creek Programs

There are some amazing after school programs happening soon at Prairie Creek. Please see the information below regarding some of the opportunities offered to our students.

 

Chess Club

The Prairie Chess Club at Prairie Creek is open to all 5th and 6th-grade students.  We meet after school on Mondays with the expectation that your child is picked up by 4:30 pm. Our first club date is September 26 and we will continue on Mondays up to Winter Break. Everyone is welcome and there are no fees to participate.

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run is an activity-based, positive youth development program that inspires girls in 3rd through 5th/6th grade to be joyful, healthy, and confident. Girls learn about confidence, positive thinking, body image, and peer pressure through small group conversations and interactive running activities. GOTR-certified volunteer coaches utilize a curriculum to engage girls in fun, interactive lessons.

Practices will be held on (Mondays/Wednesdays) and the season starts on (September 12th).

 

Let Me Run

Let Me Run will be coming back to Prairie Creek this year! Let Me Run is a boy’s running club that provides lessons on a variety of topics ranging from respect, positive competition, and nutrition. This opportunity is open to 5th and 6th graders. Practice is Monday and Wednesday right after school until 4:15. If school is not in session that day there will not be practice. Each practice gets us ready to run the 5K on November 6th at Kirkwood Community College. If you would like, please register here. The team can only have 14 boys, if you are interested please sign up as soon as possible as spots will go quickly.

EIAA Choir

Your child has an extra music opportunity at Prairie Creek sponsored by the Eastern Iowa Arts Academy (EIAA). The Eastern Iowa Arts Academy is an after school program that provides a positive fine arts experience. Creek will host the choir starting September 20th.
